Jason Ringenberg
Jason Ringenberg was the lead singer of Jason and the Scorchers, who had several minor hits, including Golden Ball and Chain and a blistering rock version of Bob Dylan's Absolutely Sweet Marie.
The Scorchers were influential in the mid-eighties when indie country/rock found an identity in what was to become alt.country in the 1990s.
In 2000, Ringenberg released A Pocketful of Soul on his own record label, and Its folky quality surprised those only acquainted with his rock works. He toured extensively in the US and Europe to support the record in 2000 and 2001, back to roots, playing small halls with only his guitar and harmonica.
Ringenberg has further expanded his appeal releasing records for children, and touring as 'Farmer Jason'.
