James King
A member of Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys in the 1980s, James King followed his father and uncle's footsteps playing bluegrass, and was to become a vocalist of some note.
His recording debut came on the Stanley Brothers Classics in 1985. His second album, Reunion, was released three years later. King released his self-titled debut solo outing in 1985.
A series of solo albums followed, including a number on Rounder records, bringing him a significant amount of success before joining with Cornell, Wilborn, Glen Duncan, Joe Mullins and Don Rigsby to form the bluegrass supergroup Longview.
