Canadian Singer-Songwriter James Keelaghan has become a leading figure in international folk music, despite his lack of a musical family background. However, his literate mother and father were great storytellers, and growing up listening to the great and the good of Irish traditional music has nevertheless seeped into his veins.
The literary influence certainly played a part in Keelaghan studying history at the University of Calgary, which has in turn inspired much of his writing.
