In The Shadow of Two Gunmen starts out on a much softer note than The Forecast's last album Late Night Conversations, with the song titled Everything We Want to Be. This is a vocally driven song, primarily by Dustin Addins, whose voice is raw and gritty, a perfect contrast to the soothing voice pumped out by Shannon Burns.

This song introduces the lyric styling of the band, instead of focusing on heart break and current events; the band focuses on the southern comforts of living. From whiskey to friendship, the band writes lyrics like a welcome mat, comfortable and inviting, and this is all displayed in the first few minutes of the album. ~ Full review at Just Press Play
