I Wanna Be Rich
I Wanna Be Rich is a 2007 debut release from a rising star of modern country ... and for a change, she's British! Lucie Diamond is making a significant impact on both sides of the Atlantic, and gaining rave reviews for her album, including a five-star recommendation from Maverick magazine.
If an artist can be judged by the company they choose to keep, then cameo appearances on I Wanna Be Rich by Albert Lee, Delbert McClinton and Larry Franklin tell their own story. Add in co-writes with the likes of Rachel Thibodeau and Bat McGrath (who has penned hits for Wynonna and Kenny Rogers, among others) and Lucie certainly seems to be mixing in the right circles.
Diamond's soulful, bluesy vocals are backed up with a hard-driving, rocking modern country sound that will resonate with fans of Faith and Martina. This is a high-tempo album, but Lucie really demonstrates her vocal prowess on the three ballads also featured. I Wish I Could Re-Write The Ending, co-written with Rachel Thibodeau who has written for Martina McBride, is probably the pick of the bunch.
Out of the 12 tracks on I Wanna Be Rich, Lucie co-wrote 4 of them, and we are promised even more of her self-penned work on future releases, which bodes well for the future of British Country Music.
