I Guess That Comes From Being Poor
'Pretty Miss Norma Jean' was a regular on Porter Wagoner's TV show for six years, and charmed America with her full-throated, sassy vocals, reminiscent of Loretta Lynn. Her replacement in the show when she left to get married was one Dolly Parton.
I Guess That Comes From Being Poor is a classic album from 1972 - released on CD for the first time in 2007 - containing 30 of her songs, which range from rollicking barnstormers to sweet, string-laden weepers. Musicians on the recording include The Jordanaires, Dave Kirby, Lloyd Green and Johnny Gimble.
Norma Jean recorded over 30 albums for RCA under the guidance of Chet Atkins, and was an Opry regular.
