Highwaymen
The Highwaymen were probably the most famous country supergroup, comprising of four legendary figures; Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson.
Jennings and Cash had worked together previously, Jennings calling Cash his 'blood brother'. Cash had helped Kristofferson's career by promoting him and one of his most well-known songs, Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down.
Though Cash and Nelson didn't have much contact prior to the group's formation, there was mutual respect between them. Kristofferson was perhaps lesser known for his participation in the outlaw country movement, better known on the Austin music scene during its 1970s heyday and was included in the Highwaymen as a mark of respect for his musical collaborations with the others in the group.
