Heard It On The X
Don't think that the fine collection of musicians that appear on Heard It On The X will be featured on all of Los Super Seven's recordings. Los Super Seven is a collective brought together by manager Dan Goodman, with a number of regular 'members'; Raul Malo, Joe Ely, Rick Trevino, Ruben Ramos, and Freddy Fender in the mix. The outfit is supported by two core bands (including Calexico), and on this occasion the significant talents of John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett and Rodney Crowell have been drafted in.
The premise of Heard It On The X is a tribute to the Texas/Mexico border radio stations of the 50's and 60's. The song selection features lesser-known tunes by the likes of Buddy Holly and Blind Lemon Jefferson, together with songs by ZZ Top, and Bob Wills. How eclectic is that?
Country, Mariachi, rock ballads and of course a healthy dose of the blues all compete for headroom under the banner of Los Super Seven.
