Kent Blazy grew up listening to AM radio, everything from the Beatles, Byrds, Elvis, Dylan, the Four Tops, Sinatra, Roger Milller and other diverse forms of music, all of which influenced him greatly.
Country captured the ear of Blazy, thanks to the Byrds, Poco & Flying Burrito Brothers. that led him to Hank Williams, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Buck Owens & Merle Haggard. growing up in Kentucky Bluegrass also had a major influence, thanks to J.D. Crowe & The New South, Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs & Jerry Douglas.
Blazy moved to Nashville as a writer and met a young guy who moved to town to be an recording artist but was cleaning churches & selling boots. his name was Garth Brooks. Some of their songs are on this album, including theie first number one recording, If Tomorrow Never Comes.
Have Guitar Will Travel is Ken Blazy's first solo album and is clearly influenced by music from the 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond.
