Hag - The Studio Recordings 1969 - 1976 is a lavish 6 CD Box set complete with a hard back book doumenting 165 studio recordings of the legendary Merle Haggard.

This 2007 release is the follow-up to Bear Family's hugely acclaimed Untamed Hawk set including 15 straight Number 1 country hits and Vietnam era classics like Okie From Muskogee and The Fightin' Side Of Me, as well as the more moderate unreleased song Somewhere In Between plus more than 20 other unreleased performances.

The Hag occupies a unique place in American music. The man who gave voice to the Silent Majority went on to become a counter-culture favourite. He has scored hits in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. The only exclusions on this set are his Jimmie Rodgers tribute (already issued on a single CD by Bear Family) and the live recordings, which will be released in a companion volume.
