Gail Davies enjoyed some success on the country charts in the eighties, however her music never received the recognition it deserved, perhaps as an unfortunate consequence of her uncompromising approach towards record companies in not being a token 'country gal' and insisting on doing things her own way.

There is a further long story about the unavailability of the original recordings for Warner Bros, resulting in this collection being a re-recorded version of the original hits.

Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, Kevin Welch, Mandy Barnett, Kathy Mattea and Michelle Wright are some of the names that help out on this project, and although re-recordings rarely do justice to the originals Gail Davies has defied the odds and produced a fine album of classic oldies and her own songs.
