Donna Hughes - Gaining Wisdom

Donna Hughes' third album Gaining Wisdom is a star-studded record.  To producer Tony Rice, add Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent on harmony vocals along with some of the top drawer bluegrass musicians including Sam Bush, Wyatt Rice, Rob Ickes, Scott Vestal, Mike Bub and Tim Stafford.

12 of the 14 tracks were penned by Donna Hughes who of course is known as an eminent songwriter having had cuts by Alison Krauss among others.  A mix of uptempo tracks such as Sad Old Train and piano based ballads, Not Anymore and Father Time, Gaining Wisdom also includes a cover of Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time.

From North Carolina Donna Hughes is one of the best new songwriters in bluegrass and Gaining Wisdom is her debut on the Rounder Records label which is an important step forward in her career.
