Frankie Miller
Born in Victoria, Texas in 1931, Frankie Miller very nearly chose a completely different path for his future. He earned a football scholarship at a local college, but at the same time formed his first country band, the Drifting Texans and soon began broadcasting on local radio stations, country music beating playing football hands down.
After serving with the military in Korea, Frankie Miller signed to Columbia Records in 1954 with a view to pursuing a career in music. It took some time, but in 1959 after signing to the Starday label, he released Blackland Farmer that soon was in the Country Music Chart top five and was one of Starday’s most popular recordings.
After several appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and also joining the Louisiana Hayride, and having three more chart hits, Frankie Miller decided to retire from the music business. The good news is however; the man is back and has released his first new collection of classic country in over fifteen years entitled, The Family Man.~ James Soars
