Firefall
Firefall formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1975 by former Flying Burrito Bros member Rick Roberts, and Jock Bartley, who had been Tommy Bolin's replacement in Zephyr.
In 1976 Bartley, Roberts and Mark Andes were brought in by Chris Hillman to be part of his backup band while he was on tour. Hillman took ill and was unable to complete the tour, so guitarist Larry Burnett and former Byrd/Burrito Michael Clarke were flown in to complete the tour.
Atlantic A&R representatives saw the show and quickly signed Firefall to a multi-album contract.
Firefall's biggest hit single, You Are the Woman, peaked at number 9 on the Billboard charts, and other successes followed, but ultimately the band folded due to internal tensions. Later Bartley was to reform the band with new musicians keyboard player Chris Ball, guitarist/singer Steven Weinmeister, bassist Bill Hopkins and drummer Sandy Ficca.
