Magnolia Electric Co - Fading Trails

Magnolia Electric Co. is the vehicle for the Neil Young-ish guitar slinger Jason Molina. The third Magnolia Electric Company release is Fading Trails, and while the distorted guitar solos and distressed vocal style are still very much in evidence, this is a more thoughtful and less frenetic album than its predecessors.

The tracks on Fading Trails have been recorded over a lengthy period of time, in a number of locations. Magnolia Electric Co. have evolved into a straightforward indie-rock combo, but Molina's vocals give the album an edge, if only because of his pessimistic and gloomy vocal style.

A short album, more of an EP, but one that shows development and promise.
