Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular
There is an old joke about the definition of perfect pitch: a guitarist getting the banjo into the dumpster in one throw. Now while a banjo album is possibly not at the top of everyone's Christmas list, the aficionados, of which there are many, would probably point to Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular as being the ultimate in its craft.
Banjo innovator Tony Trischka has put together an album of serious, and at times not-so-serious banjo tracks with fellow maestros Earl Scruggs, Alison Brown and former pupil Bela Fleck.
Sam Bush, Chris Thile, Jerry Douglas, and members of Union Station provide support, and although primarily an instrumental album, Dudley Connelly does provide some vocal support.
