One of the most successful female artists of all time, Dottie West, a friend of legend Patsy Cline, had numerous hits both solo and with artists like Jim Reeves, Don Gibson and Kenny Rogers.
She studied music at college, sang in a band and in a country-pop duo. Making regular visits to Nashville her big break came with a deal with RCA. It was the start of a big career for Dottie with regular chart entries including No 1's with A Lesson In Leaving', Are You Happy Baby, What Are Doing In Love (with Kenny Rogers) and her song Country Sunshine was used in a Coca Cola advertisement.
Sadly she was tragically killed in a car crash in 1991 ~ countrymusicfile
