A father figure in the Bluegrass world, Del McCoury was originally hired as banjo player for Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys, he sang lead and played guitar for Monroe in the 1960's. His first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry was with Monroe in 1963. McCoury has influenced countless numbers of artists, and continues to play and record today.
