Corinne West
Echoes of an idyllic hippy lifestyle abound when you look at the early musical career of Corinne West. At age 15, she dropped out of school and joined a group of musicians and artistes travelling around the country in an old school bus. Living on the bus with an intriguing mix of counter-culture artistes and crazy characters had a profound influence on her future musical endeavours.
The next logical step was to start busking, playing her own material, a heady mix of country, bluegrass, rock and Americana. Her grandfather had taken her to honkytonks from a very early age, so country music was the major influence, bluegrass having the strongest appeal. She soon had enough original songs for her debut album, Bound For The Living, which was released in 2004, thirteen tracks of superb acoustic folk and bluegrass.
Corinne West, a relatively new name, but an artist destined for a bright future.~ James Soars
