Come On Down To My World
Come On Down To My World is the 1999 release by JD Crowe and the New South. Less of a down the line bluegrass album than some of J D Crowe's earlier work, Come On Down To My World leads the way in bringing new material into a bluegrass setting.
That is not to say that traditionalists are not well served, with the classic sound of Flatt & Scruggs underpinning the collection. However, it is the inventive covers of songs by the likes of Merle Haggard and Charley Pride that catch the attention, with an all-out assault on Townes Van Zandt's White Freightliner possible the pick of the bunch.
