Chris Knight - Chris Knight

On his debut album for Decca Records Chris Knight sets his stall out right from the opening track It Ain't Easy Being Me with sharp eyed, desolate lyrics on the subject matter of working class folk struggling to make a living when their hopes are destroyed. Welcome to Sorryville, the subject of the song.

Chris Knight hails from Kentucky, and has developed a reputation as one of the most important and exciting singer-songwriters in country today. His Blue-Collar leanings (based on his own former job as a mines inspector) have led to comparisons with John Prine and Steve Earle, with his growling vocals reminiscent of John Fogerty.

Although the singer-songwriter influences on Chris Knight are much in evidence, this is not a lo-fi acoustic album, and the arrangements have more in common with Guitar Town or early Springsteen.
