Brian Houston
In the early nineties Brian Houston had been performing in local bands around his native Belfast when his songs were picked up by a producer wanting to use his material in a play.
This gave Houston the springboard to develop his songwriting talents, and as a solo performer he toured regularly, including opening spots for the likes of Van Morrison and Elvis Costello.
Almost ten years later, veteran BBC broadcaster Bob harris picked up on Brian's album Mea Culpa, and was a major source of encouragement as Houston put together the pieces to make up his finest studio album to date, Sugar Queen, in 2005.
