Sarah Johns - Big Love In A Small Town

Sarah Johns' debut album Big Love In A Small Town is full of feisty Country music - a rarity on a Country album these days. It's also rare to find a newcomer with an album on which she shares writing credits on every single track.

Johns spits some vocals out like a woman possessed, then soothes the soul with tender touches on some of the slower numbers. Best track on the entire album is undoubtedly Big Love In A Small Town. The music, using the counter-point brilliantly on the first verse, is sublime.

This is way too Country for radio, or it would head straight to the upper reaches of the charts. That One In The Middle hasn't already done that is astonishing. It has to be one of the best singles of 2007.

Some people took offence that the song is about a woman giving someone the middle finger. (Heaven forfend: next thing you know, they'll be giving women the right to vote!!!) ~ Coquet-Shack.com
