Country fans buying the Best Of Lyle Lovett Live DVD without some prior knowledge of the varying styles of the singularly unique Mr. Lovett may be forgiven in thinking that they have had the wrong DVD included in the slip case as the brass of Lyle Lovett's big band literally swing into action.

However, anyone who knows the unique talents of this Texan singer-songwriter will be comfortable with the initial jazz tones, knowing also that the wry humour and the exceptional storytelling in his songs will also be in evidence during the performance.

The songs themselves span the entire two decades of Lyle Lovett's career with a top notch band including the likes of Matt Rollings and Andrea Zonn providing the expansive musical backdrops. Francine Reed crops up with some soulful gospel on What Do You Do (The Glory Of Love), and Ricky Lee Jones adds even more flavour with a cameo appearance on North Dakota.
