Rose Maddox - Beautiful Bouquet (with the Vern Williams Band)

The legendary Rose Maddox was know as the Queen of California Country Music and was also the first woman to record an all bluegrass album. She spent much of her later years playing with bluegrass bands, and in 1982 she went into the studio for two days with the amazing Vern Williams Band to record Beautiful Bouquet, an album of her gospel music favorites.

Vern Williams' soaring tenor is in evidence, with his son Del on guitar and vocal and Keith Little on banjo, guitar and baritone vocals. The band is made up by Kevin Thompson on bass with Ed Neff playing fiddle and a second mandolin to Williams.

This 2007 release is on the highly-acclaimed Arhoolie label.
