An influential guitarist, this DVD showcases Joe Maphis on his regular Saturday evening TV slot at Town Hall Party. The show's bandleader, Maphis was prominent in showcasing the acts on the programme, and in his frequent solo spots.

Maphis at Town Hall Party inspired countless guitarists in the Rockabilly and Surf genres to go on and use the Maphis style for their own careers, and the programme undoubtedley led to a number of openings for Maphis including soundtrack work on Thunder Road and God's Little Acre, and he was recruited to back Ricky Nelson in his pre-James Burton days directly as a result of the programme.
