At The End Of Paths Taken
The Cowboy Junkies have always produced music of note, preferring not to waste opportunities to explore new avenues and musical experiences. At The End Of Paths Taken is at times something of an epic album, with its Beatles-esque swirling psychadelic strings and distorted guitars.
Of course the common thread throughout all of the work from the Cowboy Junkies is the exquisite vocals of Margo Timmins. Timmins on this occasion has a feel of someone who has experienced the world more than she cares for. The themes of Michael Timmins' songs seem to deal with families, children and coming of age, and Margo sounds as seductive as ever, but with a dark and brooding undercurrent.
Consistently producing fine work, the eleventh album from the winsome Toronto outfit continues their acoustic and dark Americana journey.
