Amy MacDonald
Amy Macdonald burst onto the music scene in 2007 with her stunning debut release This Is The Life, an album that would top music charts worldwide. It all started at age twelve on a family holiday to Rothesay on Scotland’s west coast. Her gran gave her some money to treat herself.
Instead of buying a tenner’s worth of sweets she bought a cd: The Man Who by Travis. This was the album that was to change the course of her life, this album prompted Amy to learn to play her dad's guitar and it wasn’t long before she started to write songs. At fifteen Amy was singing and playing her guitar at open mic nights around her hometown of Glasgow.
Having had two offers of University places, Amy decided to defer for a year and concentrate on her song writing. After recording some demos of her songs on eight-track in her bedroom she was soon taken on by Melodramatic Records.
Amy, still not officially an adult was mentored by Melodromatic owner Pete Wilkinson, helping her creatively. Within six months she had secured a publishing deal with Warner Chappell and a record deal with Vertigo, and yet she was still in her late teens.
Her stunning debut This Is The Life was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, she has wowed audiences with her gutsy vocal delivery and with her superb backing band has sold out venues all over the UK. Amy Macdonald is a world-class singer songwriter and performer whose career can only go from strength to strength. ~ James Soars
