Al Perkins is a musician's musician. His lap and pedal steel work is an ever-present in the history of country rock in the seventies, AP was a founder member of Shiloh before moving on to the Flying Burrito Brothers and recording the seminal live album The Last of the Red Hot Burritos. He was heavily involved in the two Gram Parsons solo albums, and joined former Burrito Chris Hillman in Steven Stills' Manassas.
Al Perkins then appeared on countless records, and toured with a number of high-profile acts including Dolly Parton, before becomeing part of Emmylou Harris' Grammy award-winning band the Nash Ramblers.
