• Story Of The Day That I Died - Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice

Fans of hauntingly lonesome, hard-edged bluegrass music will quickly agree that Junior Sisk and his outstanding group, Ramblers Choice, are among the leading lights of today's crop of superb traditional young bands. Hailing from the heart of the mountain regions of Virginia and North Carolina, Junior and the other four members of this group may be third-generation musicians, but the music they play would warm the hearts of the great traditional artists all the way back to the first generation.

The Story Of The Day That I Died is the band's fourth Rebel recording. The album's title track is a tongue-in-cheek number about a man who faked his own death in an effort to keep his unfaithful wife from taking half of his possessions upon an impending divorce. Other songs featured here include a splendid mix of old and new material: chestnuts like the Stanley Brothers Lover's Quarrel and Larry Sparks' Drinking from the Water Hole flow seamlessly alongside newer material from top songwriters such as Ronnie Bowman, Russell Johnson and Daniel Salyer.
